Arkansas Teacher Corps was awarded the annual Outstanding Team Award for 2021 by the University of Arkansas Staff Senate. This honor celebrates ATC's successful transition to a new virtual coaching platform in response to the COVID-19 pandemic while increasing the amount of feedback per fellow and fellows' overall satisfaction with coaching.
Temisha Daniel (ATC '19), Nora Fisher-Cummings (ATC '20), Ava Hollins-Rogers (ATC '19), Maggie Howard (ATC '19), DaLecia Jones (ATC '19), Darrah Maxfield (ATC '19), Ta'Nessa Robinson (ATC '17), Kimberly Taylor (ATC '21), and Brianna Young (ATC '20) have been accepted to the Arkansas Academy for Educational Equity fellowship, a program of the College of Education & Health Professions at the University of Arkansas that results in a M.Ed. in Educational Equity.
Arkansas Teacher Corps and Pine Bluff School District partnered together to bring a new kind of celebration to the Dollarway community on February 2, 2022. In a twist of the years-old activity DEAR, students at DHS celebrated the once in a lifetime event with DrEAM (Drop Everything And Meditate). ATC fellow TyKesha Cross organized the event and enlisted ATC partnerships director John Hall to lead a mindfulness session.
Returning mentor Ava Hollins-Rogers (ATC ’20) will join newcomers Brianna Thompson-Young (ATC'20), Cade Vallee (ATC '19), Carah Colbert-Matchett (ATC '20), Erica Weathers (ATC '19) and Dr. Ivy Macaranes in guiding new fellows through the seven-week virtual training in summer 2022.
Jamie Powell (ATC '18), Whitney Carter (ATC '18), Bernard Smith (ATC '17), Dasnee McChristian, Nick Brown, and Tonya Bobo (ATC '18) have been selected to lead and facilitate coaching, logistics, equity sessions, and instruction sessions, respectively, for the 2022 ATC Summer Institute.
Ava Hollins-Rogers (ATC ’20), Darrah Maxfield (ATC ’19), Elizabeth Kuker (TFA '15), and Tory Cottle (TFA '15) will join returning mentor Jamie Powell (ATC ’18) in guiding new fellows through the seven-week virtual training in summer 2021.
As we reflect on 2020, we're grateful for all of the amazing educators and leaders who have gone above-and-beyond this year for those they teach and lead. Moreover, we are so grateful for all of the small sacrifices made that have allowed us to collectively grow despite the additional challenges of this year.
