5 Fellows Join 2021 Cohort After 2nd Deadline

The Arkansas Teacher Corps is pleased to announce the selection of five new fellows for the 2021 cohort from the second application window that ended January 1, 2021. These five will join the four 2021 fellows already selected from the first deadline last November.

Congratulations to these five new 2021 fellows who will be teaching in the Arkansas Delta:

  • Jas Binford, native of Harvest, AL; graduate of Harding University with a bachelor of arts in theatre and a minor in communications; graduate of Claremont Graduate University with a master of art in art management; currently working toward certification in secondary (7-12) art
  • Cassandra Exum, native of Hot Springs, AR; graduate of Baylor University with a bachelor of arts in international relations; graduate of University of Oklahoma with a master of arts in global affairs; currently working toward certification in middle school (4-8) social studies
  • Marvin Mosby, native of St. Louis, MO; graduate of University of Missouri in St. Louis with a bachelor of arts in communication; graduate of Webster University with a master of art in leadership and management; currently working toward certification in middle school (4-8) English language arts

Recruitment for this deadline window saw a noticeable increase in applicant quantity and quality despite recruitment challenges overall this year. For the second 2021 application deadline, ATC received 16 applications and accepted 5 fellows (100% of whom have master’s degrees!). By comparison, ATC received 14 applications and accepted 4 fellows for this deadline in 2020.

The third and final deadline for 2021 fellowship applications is March 1, 2021. ATC will be looking to make another 15-18 offers, for a total cohort size of at least 25 fellows. All recruited fellows will be teaching high-need subjects in Delta schools beginning with the 2021-22 school year.
